Nick Heyl(White River Junction, VT)–Oct. 29, 2014–Singer-songwriter and humorist Nick Heyl will be performing at Hotel Coolidge on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6:00 pm as part of the Coolidge Salon Series, an ongoing series of live performances that takes place on the first Friday of every other month. The Coolidge Salon Series also aligns with White River Junction’s First Fridays, a night each month when downtown businesses stay open late.

Using mostly original material with a few old favorites, an evening with Nick Heyl will evoke memories of the music of the Kingston Trio, folk groups of the early ’60s, as well as the comedy of the Smothers Brothers. Tickets are $10 at the door (children under 12 are free). Doors open at 5:00 p.m.

Nick Heyl lives in Hanover, NH and has been performing since the mid-’60s either by himself or with the folk groups Rockcastle (short for Rockcastle River Company) and Cody. During that time he has worked in every state in the nation bringing his combination of original songs and comedy to the stage. He has worked with and recorded with The Kingston Trio, John Stewart, Jim Connor and the Greg Austin Band, among others. Recently he joined fellow Rockcastle members Greg Austin and Charlie Dawson in Lexington, KY to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the group’s founding. Additional performances are being considered.

The performance takes place in the hotel’s Vermont Room where seating in front of the great stone fireplace provides a very intimate setting. The show will last for approximately 50 minutes and will be followed by a question and answer session with the audience. Complimentary munchies will be coupled with a cash wine/beer bar.

Background and Concept of the Coolidge Salon Series

The Coolidge Salon Series is the newest component of the hotel’s long-term commitment to the arts as part of White River Junction’s ongoing and growing arts community. The hotel’s Zollikofer Gallery displays and offers for sale art from local artists, with artist receptions held on the alternate first Friday of each month. Hotel Coolidge has also had long-term relationships with Northern Stage and the Center for Cartoon Studies.

The venue for the Coolidge Salon Series is either our Vermont Room or the larger Junction Room, one in which the audience can appreciate and relate to the work of the performer in a concert format.

The Coolidge Salon Series is brought forth with the intention of providing local performing artists an opportunity to perform in a setting that places the emphasis on their work for a short time before an attentive audience.
