If you exclude the Appalachian Trail, the Marsh – Billings – Rockefeller National Historical Park is the only national park in Vermont and only about 17 miles away from Hotel Coolidge. Their event calendar for October is filled with foliage walks and other public events.
The park is located in an area with one of Vermont’s most beautiful landscapes. The guided walks “take participants under the shade of sugar maples and 400-year-old hemlocks, across covered bridges and alongside rambling stone walls. This is a landscape of loss, recovery, and conservation. This is a story of stewardship, of people taking care of places – sharing an enduring connection to land and a sense of hope for the future.”
A nice collection of photos can be found on Flickr. Visit the website for details about everything available at the park, including an extensive reference library and collection of artifacts.
